I have trained and trialed retrievers since the mid 70's and have put titles on many We sell fully trained retrievers for both waterfowl and upland. They are usually ready to go at 15 - 18 months old. They do blind retrieves on both land and water. They are trained to hunt out of a boat or in a blind. If you consider the amount of time and money spent buying a pup and raising it, it’s evident that a started dog is the way to go. Remember that there is no guarantee that your pup will turn out to be a good retriever no matter how much effort you put into his training.
